Hello recently got into a little car accident on the highway a couple weeks ago. I have liability so fixing my 01 audi a4 1.8t is out of pocket. I'm trying to decide if the car is worth fixing if I can find the parts cheap. The parts are:

Oil pan
Crossmember
Steering rack
Complete right knee with axles. (Confused on what parts I need I'm guessing the control arm but not sure what else)

Not sure what happened if a control arm snapped or tie rod end did. But my front right tire and the whole assembly is messed up. If anyone knows where to get these parts cheap and exactly the right parts id appreciate it. I'm struggling with money as it is and Im trying to find cheapest parts possible so I can decide if this car is worth fixing.

 

You can probably find the parts for around $500 used, but then you will need an alignment as well probably another $100. id guess 10 hours of labor depending on your skill level. did rim or tire get damaged? was there any body damage? kinda curious as to what happened, did you run over something?

 

What I think happened is I hit a pot hole off the turn onto the highway at around 60 and from there all I remember is hitting the curb. It happened to fast. But both air bags deployed and the rim is busted. I have the air bags with the module and the rim I can get for 50$. The windshield smashed but I needed it replaced anyway and can get that for 160$ installed. The front fender has a little dent but I got one used for 40$. I'm going to worry about paint later if I'm to fix this car. Those are the parts that the mechanic told me but he's not sure how the trans is. He said it should be fine but doesn't know. What does the complete knee mean, like all the parts? I'm maken a list with all the prices. He told me 1500$ labor including the body work and paint without parts. But my bro said he can help do some of the install which should help and ill just have a mechanic do the stuff needing a lift and all.

 

Check craigslist and see if there are any deals on a4's around you. You might find one cheaper ready to go then fixing yours. Id guess you are looking at $2000-$2500 to fix what is currently listed if you are having someone fix it. You can probably part your car out for $1000 pretty easily or sell it to a pick n pull for around $500. So with that in mind if you can find a nice one for around $3000 you will be in the same place you are in now, just no worry of other issues from the damage.
