Default need help audio gurus

after i get my airbox situation fixed my next move is fixing my stereo. when i bought the car it had a shitty aftermarket headunit in there. the front door and treble speakers work fine but i get nothing from the rear deck speakers. after searching the forums a bit i learned about the amp that powers the rear speakers. i checked and my amp is missing. the left speaker (where the amp usually sits next to) doesnt appear to have any wires cut and the blue harness is dangling from it which i assume plugged into the amp. the right speaker wires are cut and dangling. my question is, i'm planning on upgrading the headunit and would like to replace the rear deck speakers as well so i can get the most out of it. will i have to replace the factory amp to get the new speakers running or is it just a matter of re-wiring the new ones in? i'd like to get my stereo back up to par but i really dont wanna have to pull apart my interior to do it if it's avoidable. any help is much appreciated. thanks.

Get aftermarket speakers. It's worth it. When I did my system, I kept the OEM door tweeters but upgraded the door mids and the rear speakers, along with adding my headunit, sub, and amp. You can connect the harnesses for the front door speakers directly, and if I were you I'd just run new speaker wire to the rear of the car, and connect new aftermarket speakers to it. Get a nice aftermarket head unit and you'll be happy with it (of course, you can add the sub and amp too). If you're planning on the sub and amp at some point in the future, run the wiring now so you don't have to take everything apart twice. Just leave the wiring tucked under the carpet in the trunk, and use a wire nut on the end of the power and remote wires to keep them from shorting against the sheetmetal.
