I recently had someone brake into my car and managed to get glass under the chrome cover on my shifter how to I get that cover off so I can get the glass out because the black piece doesn't want to move properly with glass between the two

 

Does anybody know how to take this piece off I tried a screwdriver but I'm afraid I'll break it or do I have to take apart the center console?

 

who hole wooden shift surround will pop off. then you will have a big see hole to vacuum in.
