Default need help with headlights

so i bought brand new one piece headlights but they didnt come with the blinker housing thing. I have to buy a brand new one because the one that was on mine was super glued to the blinker assembly and i had to break it...so my questions are

1. what is the thing called that holds the blinker light and is hooked to the wires
2. where in the heck do i get one?? i just the the light housing that holds the blinker bulb so i can hook it up to the wires

BTW the picture is what i seen when i looked at the light for the first time. The piece with electric tape around it is what i need....

I believe this is what you need, but thats not exactly a bargain. I would say your best bet to get it cheaper is a junk yard.

That would be perfect if it was for the 2.8 that looks completely different than the 2.8 socket

I ran into this when I bought 1-piece headlights for my prefacelift B5. The connector that Chris linked you to is for facelifted models. I'm assuming you have a prefacelift based on your user profile. The prefacelift piece is designed differently than the updated one but they both twist/snap into the headlight housings the same way. The ones you should have on your new housings will twist out and you can twist a prefacelift version into it's place. You can definitely find the piece at a junkyard.

Something I do is find the part number on ECS and try googling it for the cheapest price, depending on the part of course. Also, rockauto.com is a good spot to look too

Volkswagen Passat B5 FWD 1.8T > Lighting > Indicator > ES#257087 Turn Signal Socket - Priced Each - 3B0953123A

haha I can't believe I found that! As you can see they're going to sell you a used and dirty part for $23.18 plus shipping and handling. Most junk yard B5's (Audi and VW) around here are prefacelift and have the lights still on them.

It says VW Passat, but the parts are identical and it doesn't matter what engine or drivetrain the car is

Unless your headlights are completely different, I'm pretty sure that's it. Try comparing the picture to the other side that you do have and/or post up more pictures
