Need Opinions
I am considering buying a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro S-Line with 188k and myself and my mechanic friends are not real familiar with the brand. I have seen the car and driven it the interior is great almost new all the accessories work the timing belt was just changed about 5,000 miles ago it seems to have been well maintained the guy selling it is a mechanic and got it for his dad n pops is moving out of the country hence the reason for selling it the tires are decent the paint is faded that's to be expected with a car its age and being in Florida. It dives real nice could probably use some stuts. Please any info useful opinions or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't worry about the km's too much. It really depends on the owner(s) before. It can have 300,000km and drive just fine and smooth and then again it can have 100,000 and be rubbish. It really depends on the owner(s). For exmaple my A4 has 245,000 and drives and feels smoother than my mates at 160,000, There was only one owner before the car came into my families hands and then finally me.
Then again this is engine health wise, don't be fooled in thinking everything will be perfect, the car is old and has km's built up so don't be surprised if the suspension sags/softens a lilltle or a control arm goes as this is perfectly normal from the years and km's of ware and tear.
Just have a good inspection on the car before you buy and it should be good.

If you like the car enough and can get receipts, then buy one, but be aware that just like any other car - you will be putting money into it at some point.........but the DIY/Newbie section in here can help you avoid a lot of problems if you use them for preventive maintenance.
