hey guys, just bought an '01 A4 and thinking about murdering it out.
i've searched but cant find anything on the rear rings getting painted. I'm pretty confident i can get them off and painted easily, but the tape I was told is used by dealership (3M double sided) to put badges back on is prettttty thick (and i think it will be too thick for the rings to be flush).
can anyone let me know what kind of tape they used? or what they used?
also - when i had my bimmer i just jumped at the grill with sand paper, primer, paint, and clear coat....i should be fine doing the same with my audi's grill right?
wanted to ask before i acted cuz this is a lot nicer car than a '91 3.18i : )

Sanding the grill yes.

I think I took like 400 or 500 grit to start off to take the chrome off, then bumped it up to something high like 1200 grit to smooth it out, primed, and then sprayed.
