Default Need Stereo Code

Can anyone please help me find the security code for my stereo, as I will soon need to disconnect power from it. I'm not sure what kind of information I'll need, VIN, etc. Just let me know and I'll PM you with it.

Pretty sure you can call the dealer.

I bought the car used several months ago. Would they be likely to still have that information on file? I'll call them, but where do I go if they don't have it?

Mine was on a card attached to the inside pocket of the owner's manual. Provided, of course, that you still have it. Otherwise i'm sure the dealer can match your VIN and give you your radio code. But nothing a dealer does is ever free =/

If you have a close friend at an Audi dealer, you can give them the year of the car, VIN, and radio serial code (AZ number on the back of the radio IIRC). Otherwise, bring it to the dealer. They wont give you the code over the phone and the VAG requires a buttload of pass codes and info to get radio codes now. It takes about a half hour and most dealers do charge for the service. If you bought the car at an Audi dealer, the purchasing dealer will often do the service free if you tell them it's missing the radio card.

Didn't get my car from an Audi dealer, but I called one and they told me $110. Ha! I'm way too cheap for that BS, I'll get a new head unit for that price. Is there anyone here that works at an Audi dealer that wants to help me out? Anyone have any other ideas?

Find another dealer. My local dealer charges a half-hour (about $60). Or offer some donuts or pizza to the parts guys to butter them up for a favor...

Thanks for the advice Tweaked, I'd have done that too, but I got lucky this time. Hooked the battery back up and the radio worked just fine, yay!
