Default New audi owner.

So after looking for way too long, I finally bought my first Audi. My best friend has had this car for a while now. He was the third owner with all other owners being local. The car is a 1998 A4. 1.8t, manual transmission. It has S4 suspension and wheels. The ECU has been chipped and the exhaust upgraded. It has 158K miles on it. The best thing about this car is that my buddy has a huge stack of paperwork for it. All of the maintenance has been done and documented at the local dealership.

With the ECU and the exhaust upgrade the car pulls very strong. It is a quattro car and with the S4 suspension and wheels it handles great. I will take ownership on monday or tuesday of this week. He bought a 2002 A4 that is basically the same as this one.

The following is not the actual picture of my car but is the same color.

As soon as I can I will get actual pictures of my car up.

I paid 3200 bucks for the car. It is clean and knowing the history of the car so well I am happy with the price.

Thanks man! I have been trolling for a while now. I have looked at ads on ebay and craigslist till I was sick of them. Glad my buddy found an upgrade so I got his for what I think was a good deal. There are some minor things to work out. The cruise control doesnt work which i understand is common. Also there is an ABS issue that seems pretty common also.

All in all this will be a good base for me to work off of.

If my job situation goes as expected I plan to move up a few years by 2011. I drove this one as my first Audi experience and fell in love with the car. The power is very even and usable for a turbo car and the handling is top notch.

If i can keep my wife from running the snot out of it we will be good

Wife is an amateur photographer so as soon as we get some good weather I will put up some killer pictures.

So its kind of dirty, but I got some pictures of the new to me A4. It has a couple of glitches:Need front brake pads soon, have an ABS light on, a brake light on. So I will be spending some cash right off the bat.

The car runs very well. It has been chipped and has 2.5" exhaust. The power is exceptional and can kind of sneak up on you. The handling blows me away. Reminds me of why i wanted the car.

Hopefully will be able to get the brakes taken care of. It has 158K on the clock. Timing belt was done at about 95K so I am going to be shopping for a mechanic to go ahead and do that soon.

Looks really good. The brake light may be because of the pads if you have wear sensors, or it could be fluid level or a brake light that's out. Any of that is very simple to fix yourself. The ABS light may be a bad wheelspeed sensor. There's a chance that the two lights are together indicating a bad ABS controller. The S4 suspension is a great upgrade - I had S4 struts, springs, and rear swaybar on my car at one time (still have the bar but replaced the struts and springs with aftermarket coilovers). As for the timing belt, it's a much easier t-belt than many cars are. There are DIY articles online that'll walk you through it, the parts can be bought in a kit for around $250, and can be done in an afternoon.

You should go into your User CP and put in your location - there may be locals who have experience and are willing to help you do it for pizza and beer. Where do you live? There's a core of us here in upstate NY that turn wrenches all the time.

It is not fluid or a bulb. Pads are going to be done end of the week.

Previous owner, who is my best friend, said something about a wheelspeed sensor for the ABS. I am much more concerned with getting a new timing belt in the car than the ABS crap. The brakes work fine. You dont get the abs working but I am not a huge fan of ABS to begin with.

There are going to be little things to be done. I have a busted turn signal that i have to deal with. But overall for getting a car that i know so much of the history about I am happy with the deal.

I really like the color. You just dont see a lot of them in this color around.

Added location and thanks for the tip.
