Actually, this sounds funny and not real, but NAPA has remanufactured front AND rear axles for the A4 Quattro, they are remanned, however, come with a warranty, and the last rear set I got for my 98 A4 Quattro, had the Audi part number and name on them. the rear run (mechanic cost) around $73 plus a core of $82??? I thought that was funny, the core is more than the part...might want to check them out....

The front axles are actually cheaper than the rear at NAPA. I also found them online, front, for under $80 just do a google search....
