Default new to forums, looking to purchase b5

hi all,

im new to the site, have been looking into the forums to find information on the a4 quattro.

here is a link to the craigslist ad, perhaps someone with more insight/knowledge can tell me if it is a good deal or not. it seems to have been well maintained, however my knowledge of audis is almost non-existant.

i appreciate any info you guys/gals can share while i start reading into the forums more.....

AUDI A4 5SPD ...sell or trade...

Thanks!

well first of all thats not a 5 inch drop... i dont know if thats even possible without bags. but the body looks like its in great shape, 177kmi means your probably looking at a second round of maintenance, timing belt, tensioner, water pump. maybe some other stuff. but for that price it looks good to me! you will have alot to play around with

yea, i was confused at the drop claims, but ill be sure to check and make sure the springs havent been cut.

honestly, i dont care much for lowered cars, winter tends to get rough in new england, and i dont want to be the one doing the plowing.

im definately going to be asking for maintenance records, to see about the timing belt and other stuff

im used to the german cars being money pits, as a former bmw owner but look forward to driving a non-jap car again

Where do you live? The NE US is one of the most active areas in the nation for Audi enthusiasts. There's a bunch of us up here - you'll have to meet up with some of us.

I'm from northwest ct originally, in rhode island while my girl finishes law school

I used to live right down the road from limerock park, work there seasonally, def down for meets if my work schedule permits

Stock ride height is 27" GTF (Front) so if it's lowered to 22" GTF then you've got a 5" drop. Doesn't look like it's at 22 though, maybe 24ish.

Find one a little bit higher off of the ground. And with less mods. Choosing your own mods (or lack there of) > dealing with someone else's.

And that's a lot of miles for a B5 that may not have been properly cared for... Shouldn't be difficult finding a decent B5 with 100-125k miles for a reasonable price.

I work around that area. I've seen it around. I wouldn't go with it simply because of the mods. Who the hell knows what the owner did to it.

Def check the springs. Tb prob needs to be done (again) so don't let him tell you the tb/wb was done at 90k and you are good.

I can sell you a set of stock wheels if you don't want those ugly spray painted one
