Hey guys, just made an account here, finally got around to it, but i like this forum and there seems to be alot of info and the board seems really active too, all things which i like.

a little info - I belong to nicoclub.com, the other car is a nissan pathfinder, heres a link to my one thread with some updated pics if any of you are interested - Updated - Lowered R50 2002 Nissan Pathfinder : Pathfinder Forum / QX4 Forum

About my audi:

2001 A4 1.8T Quattro fully loaded and sport package, 5spd tiptronic

I bought it the first week of this past july, i was looking for a car for about 2 months and then found this one on craigslist. It was a great price, looked in good shape and stuff, so i went to look at it, and ended up buying it the same day. Most of the reason was how when i got there how immaculate the interior was, the lady that had it also had every single service record from when the car was bought and had it all neat in a folder. Thats another big reason why i jumped is i could see the lady did take it and do maintenance on it. And i also got a great deal on it.

Since i bought it havent had a chance to do much yet but i did,

K&N Drop in filter

Cleaned MAF

Fuel Filter change

Iridium spark plugs

mobil1 full synthetic oil and filter

mobil1 full synthetic front & rear differential change

Drivers side rear wheel bearing

Both front C/V boots

need to do a coolant and trans fluid change, hadn;t got around to it yet, im a big guy on doing maintenance and using synthetic fluids, if you treat your car right, it treats you right
__________________________________________________ ________

So its all stock for now basically but -

Things that im doing within the next month:

APR 93 octane ECU Chip

APR R1 diverter valve

Clear Corners

3000k HID foglights - maybe 10k projectors, but i like the stock color and output for now

Need to buy an amp and wiring kit for a 10" Kicker w/ ported box. ( The stock bose system on these audis is really nice!, the one on my pathfinder sucked compared to this, but then i installed a $1200 full system )

Thats all i can think of , off the top of my head. But anyways heres some pics:

The interior literally looks like no one ever sat in the leather seats and everything is clean.

Sounds like a great find and welcome. All the maintenance is an excellent idea and you're doing it right. With the coolant, that is flushed and replaced when the timing service gets done (every 60k miles). Check your records - if timing is up to date, you shouldn't need to touch it.

You'll love the mods when you do them. I'd suggest skipping the APR DV (not because it's subpar - it isn't) but because you can get an excellent DV from a forum member here (emilgevor) that is comparable to the APR and Forge valves but is only $75. They'll hold 30psi and work great. Check out his site - Krauto Parts. He can handle your HIDs and more as well.

Pics look good but are dark and kind of hard to see - got some daytime shots?

Take a walk through the FAQ sticky post up top too - it'll give you a great feel on the abc's of Audi ownership.

Welcome

Thanks, and i'll check out that other diverter valve. As for HID's i order all of my kits and ones for friends from HIDextra.com, so im sticking with them for now as they have awesome specials especially on holidays.

Wow, very clean interior!

Welcome aboard, too. You'll have way more "fun" fixing things on your B5 than you will on the Nissan.

Changing the tiptronic tranny fluid is a great idea. I changed mine at 122k miles and it feels like a brand new transmission. You'll need to get a copy of VAG-COM in order to have the tranny fluid at the proper temp when filling it. If you're going to get serious about maintaining & fixing this car for a long time, I highly recommend purchasing the full version of VAG-COM with the cable from ross-tech.com.

jdahlen, ive did my research and i know i need vag com to monitor temperature when i do the trans fluid change, but thanks for pointing it out anyways, also i got the 20$ vag com cable, cause i had to reset the airbag light, it was throwing out a false code,

and yeah tell me about it, yeah i;ll have more fun alright, when i went to do the cv boots i found that out with the $%^^##! pinch bolts. Used air tools, crapload of pb blaster, and a bunch of center punches and big hammers. Was not a fun day.

No need to remove pinch bolts or dismount control arms to get an axle out of the car - it can be done with all that intact, pretty painlessly.

You'll need a pump for the Tip tranny. Fill plug is on the BOTTOM of the pan.

Imthedevil are you talking about the trans mount way where you drop it a little or something? If so i read about that a couple days ago long after i did the job, but im glad i got it over with cause im probably doing the suspension in the future and i might need to replace one of those ball joints that the pinch bolt holds together anyways.

Also the a4 with the sport suspension, is that basically an s4 suspension or no?
