Theres a lot of debate about the 6spd for the 1.8t. Some say it's pointless, the 5spd has the perfect gear ratios already.

I consider myself fairly mechanically inclined, although i have never dropped a tranny on a B5 i have on many other cars so im not scared to tear into things or turn a wrench. But i would never do a rebuild myself. So as long as its not a lot harder than any other car i should be fine with the help of a friend.
