New Owners Guide
Hi,
I have just bought a 1998 1.9tdi (110) A4 with 170,000 on the clock. I was wondering is there anything that I should be aware of or do to it? It passed its MOT no problem after standing idle in a garage for 2 years (started first time with a new battery). It hasn't missed a beat since I bought it two weeks ago and I would like to keep it this way, any heads up?
Cheers
Arron

Welcome to AF, Arron!
To be honest, there's not a ton of knowledge here about non-US models of this generation. Mostly because nobody has the ability to get one, so we can't take them apart or break them. I don't know how similar the engine in your car is to the TDI Jettas and Passats that we did get here, but you may have better luck finding technical info on forums for those engines.
As for things not related to the engine, common problems on this chassis are wheel bearings, control arms, and cosmetic-type problems that come with owning a 15 year old car. If there's anything we can do to help with that stuff, just let us know.
You also might check out the FAQ sticky at the top of the B5 forum here: https://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-...%2A%2A-109459/
