Question New Snub Mount?

Sometimes when I am cruising in a lower gear and let my foot off the gas, the car jerks forward and backward.

Whats the deal? Is it time for a new snub mount?

Thanks.

Could be. Are you still running a stock snub mount? If so you might want to inspect it or just replace it with another one.

You might also want to check out your engine/transmission mounts.

Im 99% sure that I still have all the original mounts on my car and its at 97,000 miles right now.

I know to check for fluid leaking out of the engine mounts. What would be the signs of worn tranny mounts? snub mount?

Snub mount would look torn, also look to see how much the motor moves when you barely give it gas while its sitting at idle and out of gear. You would have to take the transmission mounts out to see how bad they are.

If you need new snub/motor mounts let me know, I can offer you some Stern Pro-Mount motor mounts and Stern snub for $225 + $14 shipping(USPS priority mail) to MD.

Thanks Mike.

I'll try to find some time this weekend to check things out.

I think i remember reading something about the stern snub mount needing to be shaved to fit properly, and possibly causing vibration. Is this possible?

That is the APR snub. I haven't seen that issue with the Stern.

The CAR does? You need shocks.

It's an engine mount at the lower front of the engine that primarily helps keep the engine from rocking back and forth. The usual symptom of a bad snub mount is the shifter rocking back/forth notably when you hit and let off the gas.

It just acts as a pivot point, so it keeps the very front of the engine inline with the rest of the driveline. The snub sits inside of a small housing that is oval in shape, it is wider side to side then it is up/down and this allows a little movement.
