Default Newbie Help

Hello all,
I recently bought a 01 Audi A4 and I have a few questions if anyone can help.
There are 3 lights on that I am concerned about on the dash.
1-ABS light is on
2-Brake is blinking
3-Airbag light is On

Can anyone help and let me know if these are an easy fix?

Do you have access to a VAG-COM or generic OBD2 scanner? Those will give you specific codes that will tell you what issues you have. Google those codes (they will look like: P0176 or similar) and they'll tell you how to fix them. Or post them back here so users will have a better understanding of what's wrong.

Item #2, the flashing brake indicator light... I think that this is a low brake fluid indicator.

So i went to a shop and they told me 1) the ABS module is bad. Common for 96-01 Audi's and 2) the Airbag issue can be reset without any repairs needed because this car hasn't been driven for a long period of time. They are working me on the price, $900 to be excact for the whole thing. Is that price fair?

I went to a shop and told me that the ABS module is bad causing my brakes to wear out unevenly. As far as the Airbags since this car wasn't driven close to a year, they can reset it. They quoted me $900 for all of it, is that a fair price?

Are you a DIYer? If so, I'm sure you could fix all those problems for a VERY low cost.

Not really a DIYer. So I called the dealer and they gave $1300+ for the module & $700+ for labor so I thought of it $900 isn't such a bad deal. D mechanic told me he will fix all of it plus replace all my brakes w/ rotors.

You may have to sink the $900 if you don't want to do the things yourself. Though I should reiterate the suggestion from soulstep, these are a few things that can be done yourself that aren't terribly tough (just watch a youtube vid or two) and you'll save yourself TONS of money.

If not, I'd say go ahead with the $900. It can't hurt to change the brakes right after you buy a used car anyway, just for peace of mind.
