Default Newbie here looking to buy an A4, need advice... 1.8 or non-turbo

Ok, well I am in the process of buying a new car for a commuter ride. I drive about 120 miles a day, and would love a fun little ride to get back and forth. The Audi is a very nice car, but I know nothing about them. here is what I have gathered so far, and maybe you can lead me in the right direction. I definitly want a manual tranny, and a car that will beat my brothers stock 97 VR6. I am looking at 2 models... The 1.8t (I like the turbo) and the other 2.? Can you guys tell me the pro's and cons, adn when to expect failure, as well as if tere are fixes for these? I know the Timing belt issue (is this only on the 1.8?) and the Oil Sludge (is there a fix for this?) I woluld like to buy this car in the next week, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks
Dima

The 2.8 uses a timing belt as well.

the 1.8T gets exellent gas mileage compared to the the 2.8, and if you chip it, you would probably be able to keep up with/if not beat the stock vr6.

WHY AM I SO NICE, NOW READ THE GUIDE ABOVE^ [:@]
