Yeah is it slipping now during WOT, like you were saying? Or is that with the clutch not fully engaged?

If it slips with the test that ITD mentioned then he should just buy a new clutch from Mike. My car is getting there, I think.

This is what happens when you launch on the stock clutch....

once the clutch is replaced, you should really upgrade all of the driveline mounts before any aggressive launching.

And if your friend launched your car, that's why your clutch is slipping. have fun installing the new one. Get it from mike, he's a good guy.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies, I forgot to mention that my clutch engages really far out, like almost all of the way out. It feels like it engages really quickly as well.

Could It possibly be not engaging fully? My dad said that it could not be aligned correctly, or something like that.

I could have sworn that Mike told me that a stage 4 clutch should engage over the whole travel

One of the clutches (SB stg 4 maybe?) will do that. But my stock clutch, SB stg 3, and CM fx400 all engage way at the top of the travel.

Scaryfatkid, your clutch is toast. It's not the alignment or anything else like that.

All of the CM A4 1.8t 228mm clutch kits will engage up at the top of the pedal like stock, they even have a stock or softer then stock pedal feel.

The new CM A4 1.8t 240mm clutch/flywheel setup engages more half way up from the floor on the pedal travel, it will also have a slightly stiffer then stock pedal feel. So it basically has more pedal resistance then their 228mm setup because this setup has a 2500 lbs clamping pressure rating vs the 1800 lbs on their 228mm setup. A stock clutch has a 1300 lbs clamping load rating.

The SB kits are made with a different pivot point design. So the HD kits will engage at or below half way up from the floor and the SS kits will engage just right off of the floor. SB old clutch line was HD = Stage 1 - Stage 3 and SS = Stage 4 -Stage 5.

So you are right, but only when talking about the SB SS stage 4 kit. Well their old kits since they have completely changed their Euro clutch line for 2010 which includes their A4 1.8t clutch kits.

So, Mike, of the new stuff, are you aware of what would engage right off of the floor? I had mentioned to you that I liked how the LS1 Camaro clutch worked... well, I drove my sister's 2008 Mustang GT and that clutch started engaging practically when you started THINKING about lifting the pedal. That would be nice... but the LS1 Camaro feel would be good.

I finally got my car tuned and, surprise surprise, the newfound power can make my clutch slip, so I need to order a new clutch very soon. Likely this week or next. But I need to know what I can get that will engage low. I HATE the top of the pedal feel. I would sooner sell the car and buy something different.

What about SS-TZ?

Alternatively, if none of the new kits will do that, do you have any of the older SB stage4 clutches left?
