Default Newbie w/ ride height question

We picked up a very nice '99 A4 quattro 1.8T 5 speed for my son to drive yesterday. I am very happy with the car and documented service records it came with so my only issue right now is the ride height. When test driving the car it seemed to sit low but my DD is a '97 Miata so it's not like I have a lot of room so to speak. Anyway the car did bottom out on a very aggressive speed bump in the parking lot of the seller at low speed and then very lightly last night on the dirt road to our home at about 10mph. So my question is what is the stock ride height? I guess measured from the center of the wheel to the fender lip would be helpful. Also how do you determine if the car has the sport suspension? The seller said it now has 2003 A6 wheels which replaced BBS wheels that were sold to a friend.

not so sure on stock ride height however it is in the manual. as you can prolly guess stock suspension is lower by about a half inch or so. you can tell if it has sport suspension if you have the sport package. it comes with a three spoke steering wheel instead of the ugly *** four spoke one. if it look to you to be a little lower than other
a4's its possible aftermarket lowering springs were installed by previous owner.

Sport suspension is usually visually looking at the shocks, and I think there is a code in the trunk somewhere. If they are red you have the sport suspension if they are black then stock. Now of course this will not work if there is an aftermarket job on it. I have the 3 spoke sport wheel but mine was stock suspension. The car sat about 3 miles high off the tires. Looked like a 4x4 as they would say. If you could post a pic that would pretty much solve it .

Ground to middle of fender of stock non sport suspension I believe should be around 26" in the front. Post a picture of the car?

Thanks, I'll try to get a picture up tomorrow. It does have the 3 spoke wheel and rear deck spoiler if that matters.

Welcome to AF!

Looking at the picture, I can say right off the bat that the suspension isn't stock (nor sport) as it sits pretty low. If you look at the shock or spring, it should probably say what brand they are.

The spoiler does not necessarily come with the sport package as they are optional from the dealership.

And the seller was correct. Those are the C5 A6 wheels.
