Question no boost

Hi, new to site so sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but i could not find it so here goes.If my DV is shot on a 96 1.8t could this cause the car to have no boost at all accompanied by some whining/howling noise? Icould not find any loose/split pipes.Cheers

that may be a boost leak.. or a blown turbo... if it sounds like a dentist drill.. i mean a loud one.. then your turbo is done.

could the turbo blow just like that, The car has never seen more than 10psi and the problem was instantanious when pulling away. Its not smoking or anything. could a shot dv cause boost to leak back into the system?

usualy when turbos fail you know about it, either by the cloud of smoke behind you or very apparent noise. a dv could do that i guess, go pick up a 710n DV for $40. you need to do this if you are chipped anyway.

do you have a boost gauge? what does it read? how do you know your not getting boost?

ok, Turbo is totally shot..found fault to be no oil feeding into turbo, so as you can imagine it went from a whirr to a clatter in 0 time.also accounts for not blowing smoke out of exhaust as no oil to turbo.Oil pipe from filter housing to turbo was blocked solid ?? Now that I need a new turbo, is there any benefit in fitting a k04/k03s over the k03 to a stock motor/ecu with the veiw to tune at a later date as I dont have the finances to do it all together
