No first gear!

Hey, i got no first gear, when u start to disengage the clutch the gears start to grind, 2-R all work good.

1997 audi a4 1.8T with 280000km

PLEASE HELP!

you could try checking the shift linkage

If it is grinding then the syncro most likely failed. What happens when you put it into 1st and then start the car?

So turns out the transmission is fucked (first and 2nd gear syncro). So we got a used transmission with 160000kmish on it. Also getting new clutch and flywheel.
