No remote and lock cylinder broken - help!
I have searched, but most threads end with linking to a dead topic. Even the stickies have dead links relating to this.
2001 Audi A4 Quattro
Came with one key, no remotes. Cracked the key open and found no transponder. My door lock cylinder is broken. I put the key in, and it just spins all the way around. The key will not physically go into the glovebox at all. Not that it won't turn, but it won't even try to go in.
I have a guess at what happened. The title the dealer had was signed over by power of attorney. The car was repossessed and they punched the lock cylinder to get in. After that they replaced the ignition lock cylinder with a basic OEM one so that it could be driven. The steering column covers were definitely removed at some point, because if you look closely you can see marks they made while doing it.
At this point, I have no way to lock my car.
I would be happy with either:
1- A lock cylinder for my door that matches my ignition key. If I have to buy a set, that's fine, but I don't know where to get one.
2- A remote/fob to lock/unlock my car.
My alarm sticker on the back glass says:
4D0 010 138 E
Codes from the trunk sticker:
4K0 TKV Radio remote controlled central locking operated from inside
5D2 TRF Carrier frequency 315 MHz
I posted a video on youtube of the situation, here:
If you need any info about this, please ask. I have instant email notification on this thread and will respond as quickly as possible.
