I just swapped a head and did the timing belt on a passat 1.8t AEB engine. Getting the following codes on vag.. p1338 Camshaft position malfunction, p1472, p1547, and p1425 evap purge valve short to ground. Changed cam position sensor, changed fuel pump relay, timing is dead on no slack in belt from a bad tensior. Didn't do a compression test yet but I feel like it an electrical issue.. Also if I clear codes with vag the camshaft code does not always come on. The other 3 codes come back on every time after I clear them and try to start it. Any ideas?? Thanks

 

I have similar symptoms. I also had the Cam Position Sensor code. My engine turns over however there seems to be no spark. There is a chance it may be the ICU if you have one.
