Hi there, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to cars, and this weekend I picked up a nice MK1 TT 225.

Today I went to change over the head unit from tape player chorus to my own from my old car, everything seemed to be working great but then all of a sudden the head unit went off and now the car wont fire up?

I'm completely stuck on whats happened, I've checked the engine fuses in the drivers side door, and I've even left the battery off the car for 20 minutes or so to see if that helped.

Every other part of the car works fine I've stuck the original head unit back in and its got the word safe on it I assume its waiting on the radio code going in.

Does anybody have any ideas how I've killed my car and what I can do to get it working again

 

Did ya check the fuses in the fuse box mounted to the top of the battery ?
Also had an aftermarket alarm system in my truck some fool installed... when the bat died, it reset the alarm and I didnt even know it existed, spent hours and replaced the starter, decided to pull lower dash out and the alarm box fell out, unplugged it, started right up lol

 

Thanks for the reply, I've just checked them and they all seem ok.

When I just tried to test it again the battery light was flashing in the middle of the dash above the temp and the miles etc.

I'm assuming this means the battery is either dead or knackered?

I've just taken it off to leave on charge over night.
