Default No start, no clicking,no bussing, batt good, no turn over

Noob to the forum but did do a search. Couldn't find the combination I have here so decided to post and ask for help.

I have 99 A4 1.8T Quattro.

Car won't start or crank at all.

Battery gauge reads 12volts. Turn key, no clicking, no buzzing, no noises. Car won't crank at all.

Put jumpers on, still no crank of the motor, volt meter does go up on dash.

EPC light is now on.

Mil was on for a coil pack on cyl#3.

Towed it home, but can't take it anywhere for codes to be read.

Besides just taking it to a mechanic where would I start?

Immobilizer?

Relays?

Starter?

Speed sensor?

Any help is greatly appreciated guys!(even if its a link to a previous already discussed post)

Thanks!

Estilo.

Is the alternator good?

Check your fuses too

A loose ground strap from the engine block to the chassis did the same thing to my car. On the 2.8 it's located right next to the alternator and starter. I've also heard of the ground strap from the battery to the body causing this. Check all those major connections.

Alternator is good but will double check.

Grounding can definitely be a culprit as well.

Good start, I will start there when I get home. Appreciate your help guys and I'll post back results.

FYI I also will check voltage and ground to starter.

Thanks again for the help and quick response guys.

Grounds or ignition switch. There is also 'starting interlock relay' in the Central Electric panel.

Default reporting back solved

Wasn't the grounds.

all fuses where good.

fuel pump did buzz

No turning (motor/starter)what so ever with a good battery and with jumper cables.

Managed to find the schematics on this forum somewhere. They where of much help.

The print said switch, relay(module) then starter so I checked the circuit for the starter and didn't get 12 volts at the starter even though I did get a click at starter solenoid.

Pulled the switch jumped a few wires to start the car and vuala, she starts.

So Midniteoyl was right, the switch was bad. I have now changed the switch and she works perfect.

Thanks for the help guys.

I leave this behind in case someone else finds themselves down the same road.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this board just have to read and search.

With a little patience and the help of the board members here I solved my problem with out having to go to the Stealer, I mean dealer.

Thanks guys!
