o2 sensors and combi valve problem
Hi everyone,
I have a 2000 A4 quattro 1.8t with 153k miles on it.
I'm getting the following codes:
P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P1113 Bank1-Sensor1 Internal Resistance too High
P1114 Bank1-Sensor2 Internal Resistant too High
I'll be checking the combi valve, hoses, and saip to fix the p0411, and I have a feeling that the P0300 is somehow related to one of the other problems.
My main question is about the B1S1 and B1S2 sensors...where are they located and which do I need to buy as replacements?
Any other help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a ton
,
Alex

Those are your oxygen sensors. The misfire code easily could be a result of bad O2 sensor feedback (specifically from S1, the precat sensor). First thing though is to clear the codes and see which ones come back. That rules out transient fluke codes and firms up what failures are real.
I can't clear the codes yet since my own diagnostic cable is being shipped to me, all of these codes came from my garage.
I attached two pics, in the first one, are those the B1S1 and B1S2 sensors that I need to replace, or are they somewhere else?
In the second pic you can see the cable from the combi valve is frayed, could that be my problem? Should I try replacing that first?

Yes, 90% of secondary air injection problems are the vacuum lines to the combi valves. If the vacuum line is that bad on the valve, you might want to look at replacing all your vacuum lines.
After thats replaced, erase the codes and see if the O2 sensor faults come back.

Any special tips or tricks to installing it?
I have a feeling that the o2 sensors might be old anyways since there stock and the car has 153k miles, but who knows.
Thanks a ton for the help, I will report back.
You can just go to your local parts store and purchase vacuum line. If you want to get fancy, you can order the vacuum line kit from ecstuning.com. No special trick, just dont break the nipple off lol. Just use some pliers to get the one-time use clips off, pull off the vacuum line, and install you new line. I used these clips I bought at advanced autoparts that you squeeze together with pliers to secure the line, but I'm sure a zip tie will work just fine.
Alright, I put new vacuum line in for the egr, the braid on the old one literally fell off in clumps when I took it out.
