for some reason my oil dipstick boot broke off, i just ordered another one, are they hard to replace? do they just slip in? i'm losing oil everytime i drive because its splattering out.

 

Its a pain to get the old one off - at least on the 1.8t.
Putting the new one on isnt too bad (not to be confused with easy. It takes some playing around to get the bottom and top lined up on the right things at the right time.

You might need a good long tool to break off the old one. Probably spent 20 minutes working on the old one, and 5-7 minutes gettting the new one fitted in. No special tools, just a little patience.
