When you say it is disappearing very slowly, how slowly is it? One quart every 500/1,000/3,000/5,000?? It may be an acceptable amount and I wouldn't jump to putting a new motor in.

It depends on the motor and like krazz said how quick is the oil disappearing, I know that on the 12v v6s the piston rings are a but loose which allows for a bit more oil blowby and being down half a quart every 1000 miles is normal, the 30v were more reliable whereas the 1.8t could not use any oil or something such as a bad turbo seal could cause as much as a quart every 1000 miles

My 1.8t takes about half a quart every 3k

I lost 4 quarts in a 3k interval once, and it was a failed oil cooler

i have the 1.8t aeb motor and its like 1qt every 1000 miles but there is no smoke or leaks under the car. so maybe it is the turbo that is the problem

How many miles are on your car? The turbo definitely could be the culprit. At 1qt per 1,000 it is a little much but not the end of the world. As long as it is running ok I wouldn't mess with it. For the $2,000 you would spend on a new engine you could buy 400 qts of oil that would get you 400,000 miles.... Just saying it may not be cost effective to swap motors if it is still running well. The key is to be diligent it checking your oil so that it never gets low.

the body got 283k and i was told the motor had a new bottom end. i have to check the front housing of the turbo and see if oil is in the intake hose i already checked the intercooler piping and that was dry.
