Oil and Filter? What kind??
So what's a good price to pay for this? This is what I was looking at to do my oil today cuz that's what was recommended but autozone wanted 7 bucks a quart for it and seeing as the 2.8 takes 5.5 quarts, that's an expensive oil change... Just curious.
some places have sales where you can buy 5 quarts and a filter for like $25. but the going rate for mobil1 0w40 is about 6 bucks and change per quart.
$40 every few months vs. a $13 jiffy lube change and a $3000 new engine. expensive is a relative term. the 2.8 doesnt have the sludge problems the 1.8t does, so you can probably get away with a lesser oil, but keep it synthetic. even still i ran mobil1 0w40 in my 2.8. you cant really cut corners with these cars.

hehe
Yea, that's what I was thinking. You'd think with gas prices going down, one could get some motor oil cheaper too. Then again, I guess a full synth oil probably wouldn't be affected much by the cost of crude oil haha
Is there any oil that you would recommend for right after doing a "Seafoam" treatment? And does anyone know much about Royal Purple? Is it approved? Is it a good oil, worth the extra monies? And where can I get the Mann or Mahle filters other than online? I need to do the change soon, and I don't think I have time to wait for one to be shipped to me.

As far as Royal Purple... If you want a real full synthetic... change to AMSOIL... it's the only actual 100% full synthetic oil on the market.
