Prestone, if it screws up my car prestone will hear and pay for it. When it says any make or model they mean any make and model (I hope :P)

Well they are ******* dumb

Its not going to hurt your car and its cheaper, but its like when people ask about not using premium fuel. If you bought an Audi don't be cheap, theres a reason they tell you to use premium fuel and use g12. The research and development team didnt say, " Hey lets **** people out of $27 of coolant" The problem occurs when you mix the two, then all systems are fucked.

I completely understand, I use premium gas, full synthetic oil, and my coolant was low on g12 one day so I went out to get some and nobody in my town sells g12 and my "local" dealership is 3 hours away. So I bought the prestone, completely flushed the system (completely, flush 2-3 with water only) then I added prestone.

hey op I think I also have this issue, its been about 45-60 degrees in connecticut lately with it being today around 50 all day.

Most of my driving is only quick trips 10-15minutes so I never really noticed that the oil temp wasn't getting up to 200-250. I firmly remember in the summer it used to always top out at about 200-220 never fully in the middle.

Lately its not going past the same spot you posted in the picture and the heat is also not working in the center vents (the side vents blow hot air but not the center wtf?). The coolant temp level always reaches middle eventually, but it almost never hits the middle driving on the highways, typically whenever I idle at a stop light though it does go up.

Only thing I can think of is that my thermostat is going bad like yours seemed too. Also my coolant is definitely not a 100% 50/50 mix right now. I have a leak in the coolant flange and have been topping it off with distilled water. I haven't needed to fill it up for about 1 month but I am going to fix my coolant flange this week and will get the coolant flushed. Could the water be keeping the oil temp lower? I have a feeling its more likely then thermostat, i don't think its a coincidence that my oil temp is the same as yours in the picture you posted though. Like I said coolant temp level always reaches the middle after time but if I stay moving for a bit it quickly cools down.

It sounds a lot like the problem I was having. I would say replace the thermostat, it was a quick 30 minute job and only cost $15 for a premium thermostat and gasket. I will add though my center vents still don't work that well though haha

yeah maybe the center vents just dont send out heat? I put the temp at 85c and full blast and felt nothing, put it 65 and the vents got cold fast. You can tell the difference because the side vents near the seats will still feel slightly hot when cold a/c is on.

I guess I will include a thermostat change in my current laundry list of stuff I'm doing once my car gets back from the body shop.

I think I'll be done there anyway, one of the o rings in a house near my alternator is definitely leaking a bit as well as the flange.
