Old Fuel
My A4 has been sitting for a year and a half with the same fuel in it. I've heard everything from drilling holes, to blowing it out with a garden hose. The flatbed company who delivered it to my house suggested just adding fresh gas, but I've read that the old fuel gums up. I'm about to replace my battery to see what level it's on, but... yeah. Drain or mix in sum super unleaded?
id just mix with super premium or race gas if its in your area and throw in some octane booster or seafoam. the cars not gonna like it but other than dropping the tank and draining the old gas not more you can do, these cars are siphon proof. also you might have some backfire thats waht happened when we started our old bmw track car after a year in teh garage. it backfired like no other, scared the crap out of me.
lol sounds spooky. I was determined on paying some lady 10 dollars to suck the hell out of a hose. I hope that you're right, I would hate to hear my engine seize from gummed fuel. My heart might stop... I think.
I think as long as there's a can of seafoam or redline in it when you get it going, it'll keep it from gumming up, and it'll clean out what may be already gummed in the engine. It might sputter for the first couple minutes working the fuel from the tank with the seafoam in it through the lines, but once it starts sucking up the seafoamed fuel, it should be good I would think.
Edit: Just make sure you have whichever additive you go with in the tank before adding the fresh fuel so that it mixes the additive with the old fuel.

It wont gum up while your driving..and the gas itself isnt really 'gummed' up... Its the additives in the fuel that fall out of suspension and attach them selves to everything. It seems to be gunk because the gas itself evaporates and leaves this behind in your fuel lines and injectors while its sitting
Fill her up with good gas and some extra fuel system cleaner and go.

It wont gum up, it will probably just run like crap or not start.
Before you start it:
-Change the oil and filter
-Change the fuel filter
-Stuff a flexible rubber hose down the gas fill neck and suck it out with a hand pump or electric pump (hand-operated gas caddy is best)
-Partially fill tank with new gas
-Prime fuel system several times by cycling key
-When it starts running ok, fill it up and add a bit of Seafoam to the tank.

i dunno how it would be siphon proof but i have put a hose down my gas filler and sucked gas out on a few occasions. if you dont want to do it that way, unhook the fuel line either under the car or under the hood and put the feed line into a gas can and jump the fuel pump fuse. that will use the fuel pump to pump out all the gas.
although a can of seafoam and/or HEET gas additive should be more then enough to get the car started. let whatever is in there run out then fill the whole tank with some nice gas.

To replace fuel pumps or drop the fuel tank, the Audi recommended procedure is to suck it out through the fill with a gas caddy and bring the tank below 1/4 as not to spill all over the back seat. Used to do it all the time in the dealer. They might be siphon resistant to the person who tries to suck it out in a parking lot, but a gas caddy pulls it out just fine.
But good to hear it started up fine.
