Default Old Radio (no code needed) vs. New Radio (is code needed?)

My symphony radio doesn't ever ask for a code when I disco the batt. (even though it has a code in the owners manual).

My question is this:

If I replace my radio with one from a different car; Will I need the code for the new radio (same style - Bose Symphony)?

Thanks

Yes, canbus equipped cars have the radio mated to the car it was originally installed in. So it'll only ask for a code if used in another car or if there's an issue with the canbus.
