Default Ouch. Care to guess what happened?

Hey everyone. Just another noob here (Yes I have read the stickies/noon threads). I am considering a B5 for a daily driver and I keep finding great deals on 1996-2000 Quattro A4's for around $4k or less. Not to worried about the maintenance, I just cant drive a honda or toyota every day and I have other cars. The Audi never really came to mind until I was searching craigslist and realized it was a perfect fit.

Anyways,
I found this poor fellow.

Sounds like he lost the motor, maybe a nut sucked into the intake? Anyways, I still want to look at it. If I could only find a engine here in the NW I would be set . Theres a complete wrecked 2000 for $1k, but its a ton of work when I can buy a running 98 A4 with 130k for $3500.

I am sure I will think of questions and from the looks of it, here is a good place to ask. Thanks for the help.

Here's the deal you hand me the key's to the FD and I'll give you my 99.5 A4. I was just looking at a 94 on autotrader but it was too good to be true and turned out to be a scam lol. Sorry I can't help you about the one your looking at don't really know wtf the guy did haha. I'd go to car-part.com to look for an engine though. Good luck! And that is definitely my favorite FD lol love the 99 spec.

The a4 is a great daily driver.
Get a quttro/manual/turbo if you can find one in that price range.
The one you had listed is a v6. I would go for the turbo for modding ability.
So, I'd say keep looking instead of replacing the engine.

I love your rx7. I have a 300zx, and one of the few cars I would consider getting rid of it for would be a last-run rx7. What kind of quarter time do you run in that? I saw a similar year rx7 at the track, with a huge turbo in it, and he was breaking into the 12 sec. range. Pretty good for street legal on street tires.

Simple. Buy this one also, if it is still there, and fix one and part the other.

Haha, I dont think i will buy it. I really want a jump in and go car. The FD is a bit more then 99 spec. Wont bore you with the details but the only part of that car that isnt authentic 99 is the chassis. Engine, tranny, turbos, diff, interior, brakes, ect, all swapped from a 99 FD. Its a blast.

However like I said I need a nice daily driver .

Im planning to keep looking. I recently left my job and until I secure another one, this is a bit of a dream. Hopefully all the interviews I did this week will be worth something Monday .

My car ran its fastest quarter at 12.9 @1xx before it was tuned. Should be in the mid 12's. The next step is 3 rotor + very large turbo. Either that or LS7.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have always like Audi's and have no problem with a little maintenance. (Common, I have 2 FD's. Im a glutton for punishment.)
