Theres your problemright there, not decking causes all sorts of unexplainable problems. Worked on a chevelle, had the same motor rebuilt 3 times because of over heating. Never decked the head. Once it was decked and done right, it works right....weird

when the engine is cold, there is no coolant flow through the system. that's because the thermostat is closed. coolant starts flowing when the coolant gets hot enough inside the block to open the thermostat.
