P1340 code reappears after CPS replacement
My 1996 A4 2.8 12v ran fine but had a rough idle I was attempting to correct. So, I cleaned the TB, replaced all vacuum lines and then disconnected the battery for 15 minutes to reset it. After that (August 2015) it cranks but has never started again. The only code is P1340, but the note next to it (using VAG-COM) said Unknown Error Elaboration. Below that on the same code line was ESS (G28) Incorrect Correlation.
I replaced both the Camshaft Position Sensor, and the Engine Speed Sensor, and while I was down there I replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The coil pack is aftermarket and only about one year old, same for plugs and wires. There is no spark, but Ohm test on coil shows all three pairs are in range. Fuel delivery is NOT the issue. All fuses are OK. All relays are working. Spare ECU swap out did not change the issue. Replaced the Ignition Control Module as well.
I planned on selling the car so I don't mind replacing original or old components. Recently replaced the Timing Belt, thermostat, idle and tension rollers, and thermostat, along with the coolant temp sensor at rear of engine. Water pump was replaced a year or so ago. Car has 198k miles so it needed a lot of new parts. Any ideas where I'm losing spark? Thanks!
