parting together an A8 brake kit...
What parts would i need; Rotors, pads, carriers and thats it? Would i need any new hardware or will everything bolt up on the stock parts?
my car has 16" rims... stock sport package rims.
also... my car came with slotted rotors, how can i check if it actually already has the upgrade?
thanks

If it has the kit already, you'll know it because you'll barely be able to fit a stick of gum between the caliper and your 16" wheel. The A8 rotor is 12.3" diameter, and the OEM rotor is 11.3".
You need A4 pads (get some higher-performance, but not track, pads - I use Hawk ceramics on my car), A8 rotors, and TT carriers. The kits are inexpensive enough through PureMS and ECS Tuning that you're probably better off just buying that way unless you have access to a salvage yard with a lot of Audis to pull parts off of.

In addition, the added mass of the rotor will more quickly dissipate heat.
Correct on both counts - the stock hardware is reused and since you're not replacing the calipers (only the caliper carriers), you use A4 pads. Take the opportunity to get aftermarket pads - the upgrade is worth it.
