Pics of my new Audi and 2 questions.
I made a thread talking about the audi i bought for $2200. I cant find it lol so i made a new one... its a 2001 2.8 quattro with the sport package. it has 190k miles but runs great! anyway heres some pics.

Anyway i have 2 questions:
1. the previous owner broke the key off of the key fob thing and gave me a brand new uncut key/keyfob thing... Do i have to goto the dealer to get the key cut and the the keyfob programmed to my car? or can shops do that? (im trying to avoid any dealers)
2. My turn signals dont work very well..., im pretty sure its the actual turn signal switch that is messed up. all the bulbs work and everything, but when i hit either turn signal sometimes itll only work for a 10th of a second, like a quick flash, sometimes itll work for 6-7 flashes before it stops working... they always flash at the correct speed, never fast or slow, they just stop working, usually instantly. anyone else ever have this problem? any suggestions on how to fix it??
thanks in advance! -miller

Welcome. Car looks great for $2200!
1. There is a writeup somewhere on programming the key fob yourself rather than paying the dealer $$$ to do it. Unfortunately, the new key will have to be cut at the dealer or at a locksmith that can do laser cut keys.
2. Having just dealt with the turn signal problem myself, I can tell you that the flasher relay is the culprit. It is actually built into the hazard switch in the center of the dash. There are several workarounds to limp it along, but all of these are really band aids. Just buy the switch relays and all and then be done with it.

Bingo.
You need to pull the trim off surrounding the hazard relay. Get a small flathead in the top and pull towards the seats. The clips on the back break very easily, so take your time. The pull the hazard switch out with a pair of pliers.
agreed with the hazard relay
as far as the key fob goes, if you have the immoblilizer in your car, the chip is built into the "key" side of the fob. As long as you have the original immobilizer chip part, you just need to have a new key cut (laser cut as mentioned above)

If you take apart the flasher switch where the relays are located, you'll see that there are two separate relays, one for the turn signals and another for the hazards. Since the hazards are rarely used, that relay works fine.
I'm not sure about the lack of center caps. The Quattro badge looks kind of lonely on the trunk without the other badges.
