If you're seeing 5psi you're most likely in limp mode.

Can you scan for codes? There can be codes that don't trigger a CEL.

Im gonna be watching this thread.

How hard is the pull on 8psi??? Like is there a way i can tell the boost without the gauge? I am just curious. Ive seen home made doo-hickeys, but im short on time haha

Could be a vacuum issue or N75 issue. If you haven't replaced all your vac lines yet, this would be the cheapest and best thing to start off doing.

Buy a gauge. They're $50.

The vac lines going from the turbo to the N75 and the N75 to the WG are often neglected (I was guilty of that). I would get erratic boosting and one of those lines had a crack in it. If those are good then it's probably your N75. Boost leaks can be another issue and most likely come from a bad DV (also needed to replace that).
