please help!!!! b5 wont start!!! just bought it!!
i know this is the A4 FORUM but i was hoping u guys could help. just bought a 2002 b5 s4 and it has bn running great for 3 days. then i went to start it today and it just cranks, and cranks and cranks , but never starts. where do i begin?? car was running great and now just wont start!!! thanx in advance
Exactly. This is why people need to READ here on the forums before spending money when they're not familiar with the car. VagCom is free to download and the cable is $20 as stated, and that DOES work. Or AutoZone will pull the codes for free.
ok i got the codes from autozone scanner... p0123 tps/ pedal position sensor a circuit high, po222 tps/ pedal position sensor b circuit low????? the tps would allow it to crank and crank but keep car from starting??? please help. thanx
Disconnect the battery for an hour so the caps discharge and the ECU goes into Relearn mode. Clean all the connectors you can find during the downtime - use a good electrical contact cleaner like ProGold (very costly but in a class of one for this stuff). Hook it back up, leave the hood open, and turn the key on without cranking the engine. Listen for a high pitched hum from the top of the engine, near the back and centered. That's the throttle body adapting and positioning itself. When the hum stops, you can fire up the car. See if the guy at AutoZone is cool and will clear the codes, and then drive to see if the codes come back. If not, you're good. If they do, you may need a new TPS.
Dude, you're codes are not coming up in ALLDATA. Can you verify the year and model of your Audi? Not that I don't believe you but you stated "2002 b5 s4", that year would make it a B6. Below is the screenshot of what I saw in ALLDATA:
