I think the tranny will not be able to hold the torque that those bad boy's put down unless you put a Allison tranny in there i would not be accelerating too hard you will snap that bitch like a stick my 2 cent's

i was hoping to keep the quattro alive. are the trannys in the q7 tdis any stronger/better?

or maybe take a tranny out of one of the RWD dodge trucks, shorten up the driveshaft and put in a corresponding rear end. just make a beast out of it lol

You're insane.....I want to put the same motor in my jeep, feed it about 60psi Some old UPS trucks have em, might be easier to find that way.

BUT, i would say the platform is all wrong for such a job, unless you have a shitpile of cash laying around and nothing better to with it......in which case i'll PM you my address, checks are fine....

On the topic of the transmission, I'd say the trans can be built to handle the power, I think there's someone running one with something like 800hp on these boards. The gearing would be all wrong for the much lower revving Cummins though. The adapter plate would have to be a custom job, and i'd guess it would run upwards of $2000. Billet H to B adapters for Hondas run upwards of $1k and they aren't one offs.

Physically the dodge transmission is HUGE compared to the Audi one. It would not be an easy fit. I'm honestly not trying to discourage you, a vid of the noise such a car would make would be priceless....But it's really a huge job.

Q7 transfer stronger than an A4? I doubt it. Aisin-Warner slushboxes are known for weak valve bodies. If Q7 follows the Cayenne/Toureg lineage, its got an A-W.

Manual trans B5s handle quite a bit of torque. The axles are probably the weakest part and there are plenty of stock B5 drivetrains with BAT setups and no problems. You can use larger Audi 100 axles to help out.

Exactly how tall is a Cummings 4 cylinder? It can't be much taller than a VR6...

i think you gave up too early, they make tdi audis already so you would just be recreating something that exists when you can shove something that has never been into there before and have a creation.

Haha, you're just a troublemaker! You need either very deep pockets or some pretty serious fabrication skills to make this work (well, likely both). I'm no slouch in the Fab department and I'd be a bit terrified of this idea. I mean, this isn't shoehorning a slightly different motor into a car, sticking a vr6 motor in would be enough of a pain. This is a complete one off, unique job.

More power to ya, if you can see it through. But if you have never done a swap before, it may well be better to start a bit smaller.

hey when you get an idea you have to stick to it, point being it would have been epic win or epic fail either way there is enjoyment.
