It is possible! thermostat
It was finally a sunny day and brought myself to do the thermostat. I thought it was going to be impossible to do without removing the timing belt and doing it without an accomplice but 5 hours and dinner later my car was running at the right temperature.
Here are a few pictures showing what i did. It was amazing how quickly i could put it back together after the hard part was figuring how it all came apart. i kept all the bolts of each step in a different bucket to make sure that even if i was tired i could still piece it back together.
so i didnt actually put it in "service position" because i didnt have the tool and i wanted a little more space to work with. I think there is a DIY out there somewhere or else i have a few more pictures and could explain what i did.
