hopefully its a leak in the hose or something but a lot of B5's have a seal in the rack and pinion bust creating an everlasting problem. if thats the case, you have to replace the rack and pinion.

If it is the rack and pinion, what would it cost me. I havent gotten under the car to look where the leak is comming from, but Im hopin its just a hose, the leak seems to be on the driver side of the car. It leaks right under the driver side tire.

It cost around $1,000 to replace with a remanufactured rack.
I bought one from

I had a leak in the hose that connects the rack to the power steering pump. It looked like it was coming from the pump because the fluid traveled down the hose to the pump and then dripped from there. It was about $400 for parts and labor to fix mine. Steering rack is about $1000-1200 as said above.

Damn dude Im finding racks for like 250 online. I was gonna ask if anyone knows a cheap place around chicagoland that has these or can order them, Im replacing it myself I just hate to do it. They engineered these cars so poorly its not even funny, under the hood it looks like trying to find a needle in a hay stack how close everything is.

Um, yeah; where are you guys getting these $1,000+ prices for remanufactured racks? I just bought one for about $325, going to swap it out today.

$1,000 included the labor. I paid $350 after a core return to
