My car seems to be in "transmission fail-safe mode" based on the gears all lit red, but I don't have any of the symptoms. Its driving fine, I can use reverse, and tip (just cant see what gear I'm in on the screen.)

Since everything is working fine, what else could it be? Is it possible that a bad battery could cause this? Anything else?

get the TCU codes. all lit usually mean limp mode. better get it checked soon, it maybe a failed TCU like on my buddys a4

 

But did he have the transmission limp mode symptoms too or were they all just lit up?
