Default problem with a 1.8, help!!!

ok not too sure whats going on, but i dont know much about turbo systems. but today i was driving back from my sisters house witch is like 1 hr 45 mins away and my car was driving good on the way there and all the way back untill i was taking a turn on to a road and i was about to shift out of second gear at around 3500 rpms and my car just started to run all ruff and when i to my foot off the gas and had the clutch in it then shut off

so i pulled over to the side of the road and tried starting it and it would start and rev up but it would be all ruff almost like it had a bad idol air controller and you could hear the dv when i would rev it and i could never hear it b4 because i have a stock dv. so i checked to see if son hoses came off and i didnt see anything and then i poped the engine cove off to see if the plugs where on good and second plug was poped up about an inch or two so i pushed it back down and tried to start it and it still ran the same so i sat there for about 10 mins and tried again and kept it revved at about 2500 and it was running all ruff and then the r's just shot up to like 3500 and it then idled like normal and didnt shut off and was running clean now.

i then drove it home. every thing was like b4 and running good cept i noticed i wasnt hold any boost (i dont have a boost gauge i could just tell by feel) and the dv sounded like an after market one. could be my dv just has just took a **** has this happend to any one here or does any one know whats wrong. thanks

yea, i would get a boost gauge and get a new dv. if your on a budget get a 710n off a TT it should hold up good if your not pushing more than stock boost

Sounds like a misfire. Read the codes.

If you have a dead miss, the ECM will cut the fuel to that cylinder to prevent cat damage. If you remedy the misfire, often restarting the car, or in some cases erasing the codes, is required to get the cylinder firing correctly again.

What plug? And what year is your car? What was the sound like? A whale noise? Any codes? Was your car shaking or hard bucking?

i dont think he said, but did your check engine light come on, or was it flashing? that kinda happened to me once, after making a turn, cel started flashing then i shut car off at a red light started it and it was solid, i read codes and it was a missfire, you might be getting the same problem

Yeh...thats not normal. Each coil pack has two screws in them on mine. Are they missing? Maybe different on the 01? You would def misfire if it was popped up
