Question putting gas in the tank at the pump issues lol

ok i have a 01 a4 1.8t well anyway every time i go to get gas i go to fill up and i obviously put 93 in it and ill put like a dollars worth of gas in and it'll cut the pump off as if my tank was full. so i have to take the nozzle out to relive the pressure and keep doing that over and over again until im done. is there some sort of check valve in the fill hose? im so tired of spending 20 minutes trying to get gas and ppl looking at me weird when the pump clicks like 74 times. any body else had to deal with this or no what possibly the issue could be? thanks.

Sometimes holding the nozzle at different angle will change how that goes. I have to do that sometimes. I think I normally have to press down a little bit on the handle.

Jiggle the handle a bit or try pulling it out an inch or so and it should quit. Mine does that every now and again on some pumps and by changing the angle that the nozzle's at inside the filler neck and/or pulling out a smidge always seems to cure it for me.

You have the pump in to far just hold it back a bit. Happens to me all the tome and that always works now

i know exactly what you mean, sometimes, those pumps are just retarded, i found that i have to stay with the pump and hold it just right, it's a pain, but it usually does the trick
