Hi I just bought a 1998 Audi A4. With 117k. Was it a good buy or not? My temperature guage sometimes works and some does not what might the promlem be? And how can I keep it problem free.

Well you didn't say what you payed for it, so we can't really say if it was a good deal. Your temperature guage could be a problem with the thermostat. The key to keeping your Audi troublefree, is preventative maintanance. Do you happen to know if the timing belt has been changed recently? If not you NEED to have that changed. They are prone to breaking.

I paid 10,000 U.S The engine is under warranty. So I think if the belt goes that will be changed with no cost to me.

Warranty will not cover the Timing Belt breaking if you have not had it done by the time it was suggested by Audi's (which is 90K miles on a 1.8t) maintenance plan.

I have heard of people not having it covered even before also.
