Question about this 1.8T custom intake setup...
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2507093
I was looking at this and i think i found a filter that will work. is it essential to put a breather filter on that 1" hose? would i be fine getting buy without a filter for that? whats the purpose of that lower hose?
has anyone else done this? sorry. i didnt register on vortex yet and im a litte on the drunk side. so let me know what you guys think about this setup vs the drilling holes into your fender liner setup.

RE: Question about this 1.8T custom intake setup...
I had the intake box mod; just made some extra noise. Decided I wanted more noise so I run a cone filter behind a heat shield with the holes in the fender. I plan on making more fender holes. Run heater hose with a slit in it on top of your heat shield and it'll look professional. Skip out and it'll look ghetto.
My car makes that "pshhh" sound.

mkay. well the problem is that i live in iowa and i read through all 50,xxx pages on that one thread about the DIY intake mod.

see, thats a problem in here iowa with the snow/slush/rain/gunk/goo/globby stuff. it just wont work for me to have water be anywhere close to my intake setup. so i was gonna try something like this. i have a cone filter for it. just need to know if i need the other bottom hose filter.

the filter on the "lower" hose is for your sap..... if you really are dead set on doiung the cone filter mod, use a filter on it...... i had that for a while, and all it really does is make your dv louder.... i went back to my swiss box and a k&n

The line is the intake for the secondary air injection pump which pumps air dirrectly into your engine at startup, so you NEED a filter for that. If your gonna run a cone filter, dont just slap it on the maf and think that your done, get a 180* pipe and do it like its supposed to be done. I wouldnt do any of these mods because there is no point to them unless your going BT. if you want the wooshh sound then just get a forge splitter.
