Default Question about AMG wheels on a B5

If my A4 doesn't sell I'm planning to buy some AMG Replica's for it.

They are, Front: 18x8 29mm offset Rear: 18x9 35mm offset.

I've read something about needing to convert to lugs and using ball seat lug nuts. Can anybody clarify if this is necessary and if so how come?

Also, does anybody have any idea what size tires I should be looking for? I'm not trying to be stretched and hellaflush, I just don't want to rub on every bump. I'm dropped on Tein S-tech springs so I'm not that low. I already have 225/40's so if I could use those that would be nice.

Thanks in advance

You might want to check those wheels, they might need 12mm wheel nuts which means you will need to buy a 14mm x 1.5 to 12mm x 1.5 wheel stud kit.

Just like these

Unless you get your fenders pulled, they won't work. I ran 19x8 et35 (with 235/35/19) in the front, and had to get my fenders rolled just to prevent the tire from hitting the fender.
I'm FWD, but the rear of my car used the same wheel (19x8 et35). It maybe had a millimeter or 2 to spare before hitting the fender. 19x9 et35 will stick out 12.7mm further than 19x8 et35...

I'm running 19x8's with 245/35/19 and they work just fine, so I don't know.

My current wheels are 18x7.5 35mm offset and they're not even close to rubbing in the rear. I'm guessing it's your 235 tires.

After a little research, I found a guy using the 8" wide AMG wheels but he's running spacers giving him 16mm offset rear/ 23mm front without pulling his fenders. Thats pushed closer to the fenders than my staggered set up would be. To be exact, he's 6mm closer to the fender than I am.

Only thing is he is running 215's and I have 225's but even if then I would still have an extra 1mm of room with tires.

BTW, I'm FWD.

Well after looking at the tyrestretch guide my 225/40 on a 9 inch wheel is more stretch than I'm comfortable with. If this was my main car and I wanted to break necks, sure but it's just my daily driver so I need it to be comfortable to drive.

I guess 8" wheels it is.

What's the wheel offset?

Tire width makes a huge difference. With a 215 width tire that guy has an extra 10mm width to work with than I did, hence why he could get away with 23mm front offset. Did he at least have his front fenders rolled? If not the only way I can think that he got away with that is a smaller diameter tire...

Right now I'm running 17x7.5 et45 with 225/45/17, the rears needed 4mm spacers just to clear the shocks (FWD). Very soon I'll be receiving 10mm and 15mm spacers, the 15mm is going in the rear, and 10mm in front. If I'm up to it I can also throw the 4mm in with the 10mm up front, for 14mm offset. This will all give et30 rear and et31 front with a 225 tire, and I suspect this will bring me right to the fenders.
