Question about the Bose factory system
My car has the factory Bose system, but it doesn't have a CD changer in the trunk.
I REALLY don't want to use a tape adapter for my iPod, and I haven't had much luck with the FM transmitters in other cars I've had.
Given the choice, I think I'd prefer a CD changer in the truck vs. an iPod connector, but I would take either at this point.
Does anyone know if a '99 A4 Quattro with the Bose system comes wired for a changer in the trunk even if it doesn't have one? If one was back there, where would it be located? I see the amp on the upper left, hanging from the framework in the trunk at the rear deck, so I'd assume the changer would have been on the right. (??) When I press the "Mode" button on the head unit, it just switches from FM to Tape and back to FM, so I'm pretty sure I don't have a changer.
But if the wiring for a changer was there, it would be easy to either hook up a used changer or install one of the nice iPod connectors from Crutchfield.

go look in your trunk on the passenger side. you should have a cable that looks like an oversized s-video cable. it should be pretty much by the fender and covered in something to hide it. just give all the cables you see a pull. the button the the HU says CDC. i have the changer, tape adapter and fm adapter, tape works the best though. changer will skip a bit and scratch your cd if you have a woofer in the trunk
Thanks for the info, dude.
I'll go out at lunch and check it out. I did see sort of a "cubby" in the trunk on the passenger side. I wonder if that's where a changer would have gone.
I'll take a look for the cable.
I don't remember seeing a "CDC" button on my HU, but I've only had the car since Tuesday night.
On HUs with a "CDC" button, do they also have a "Mode" button?

**Update**
I have the wire for the changer, but no changer. And it's on the driver's side, not the passenger's side.
Anybody know a good place to get a used Audi CD Changer? I'm sure there are only specific models that work with my HU, right?

I have one if you want to buy it I just bought my 98 1.8T a couple weeks ago from a older lady with 81000 miles. I don't even know if she really used it. I just ordered a new deck today and do not need it. Pm me and we can make sure the plugs match up and that it is the changer that you need.
