Question about ordering rear shocks.
I'm looking to replace my shocks with some KYBs. My car says it was manufactured in 02 00 and every search result I get for "To 11/00" for the rear ones, it looks like this with no spring seat which my car uses. I havn't replaced the suspension on this car yet, so I'm wondering if the spring seats come off so I can place it onto the new shock?
If the shock doesn't come with spring seats then it should use the original one from your car (which will come off without even thinking about it). You may want to get new bump-stops while you're already in there.
If you're like me and get Bilstein sport shocks (yellow in color) they have smaller diameter bodies, and thus require spring seats with a smaller hole. Thus these shocks come with new spring seats.
The FWD rear suspension is pretty easy. The hardest part is removing the rear deck to get to the upper strut mounting nuts.

Thanks for the help. I guess that's what that lip is for near the upper part of the shock, so it can support the spring seat. I currently have on Eibach pro-dampers, which were on the car when I got it. I hope these are the oem spring seats that would fit onto an oem style shock such as the KYB ones I want to order. It's strange how I cannot find any place that sells spring seats besides the dealer. Hopefully they will fit ok.
