That's actually a storage compartment. Pre-facelift didn't get cupholders except by the hand brake The space in there is just enough to fit my wallet.

Metal man - steup is really clean

KD - Id personally take all your money and buy a banging head with a 4 channel and a full set of component speakers with tweeters. Most people buy standard speakers a haed unit and amp and sub and wonder why they only hear shitty bass. Speakr systems cost money. Whats the ballpark figure you have? that would help. My head alone cost $350 most people look to spend less than $100.
